Though we are scattered across North America and are followers of assorted faiths the one thing we all have in common is a connection to Robert Pepin and Marie Crete and/or one of their descendants. So, at this time I would like to raise a glass of Holiday Cheer to the memory of those who have gone before us, to the hope that those who follow us will live in a world without war, and that this issue finds you and all of yours well. Happy Holidays, Family. May 2002 be the Year of Peace for All. ======================================= THIS MONTH'S FEATURE: Louis-Joseph PEPIN and his wife, Marguerite BERGEVIN. Remember, before taking this info as gospel, do check it out in the Red and Blue Drouin, as well as the René Jetté, most especially the info on the older families. (If anyone has the titles of other good reference works, please feel free to pass them along.) Last month we looked at Marie-Thérèse (2Jean, 1 Robert) and her husbands, Jacques THOMAS and Quentin ADAM. This month we look at Marie-Thérèse's younger brother Louis-Joseph(2Jean, 1Robert) and his wife Marguerite BERGEVIN, and their 10 kids. Louis-Joseph (2Jean, 1Robert) was baptized 7 September 1710 in Charlesbourg. His wife, Marguerite BERGEVIN, daughter of Louis BERGEVIN and Marguerite TESSIER, was baptised in 1719. Louis-Joseph PEPIN and Marguerite BERGEVIN married 12 November 1736 in Beauport, and their 10 kids are: 1. Joseph PEPIN, baptised 1 October in Charlesbourg; buried 20 Nov 1730 in Charlesbourg 2. Thomas-Stanislas PEPIN, baptised 22 January 1741. 3. Marie-Marguerite PEPIN, baptised 12 December 1742. 4. If you see something that doesn't quite agree with your personal family history, e-mail me and tell me about it. ======================================= JOHN McCLURE This month we have the last of the installment of the McCLURE info from Brian, the Descendancy Chart for John and Jeanne. Well . . . *technically* it's the last I can present here. The last piece of info is a fuzzy photo copy of the "Contrat du Mariage entre Etienne Pepin forgeron et Jeanne Maclure", though I will be be scanning this document and putting it on the web site. I'll make the best copy I can but it may take you folks who are better versed en français to decypher it. So. Now for the chart. Ancestral File (TM) - ver 4.19 Descendancy Chart 15 AUG 2000 page 1 1--John MCCLURE Born: 1701
Forestdale, MA And then there's the list of SUBMITTERS:
These names are followed by a note that reads, and I quote: "About Ancestral File "Ancestral File is a collection of genealogical information taken from Pedigree Charts and Family Group Records submitted to the Family History Department since 1978. The Information has not been verified against any official records. Since the information in Ancestral File is contributed, it is the responsibility of those who use the file to verify its accuracy." Which, if you think about it, is just plain common sense. ======================================= RAMBLINGS FROM THE EDITOR Technology is a double-edged sword. With a computer one can collect, and store a great deal of information in a relatively small space. And, with a computer, one can just as easily loose ALL that information in one small electrical burp. No, my system didn't crash again (I caught it before it did that this time) but I have discovered that the Juno email program has a finite amount of memory for stored messages. What annoys me is that the message that made the program seize up was two pieces of junk mail from the same advertiser telling me, in great brightly coloured letters and flashy graphics, that I COULD enhance a body part that I am not so equiped with, safely, easily AND in the privacy of my own home -- GUARANTEED! But one good thing did come of this experience: I discovered a way to block that junk mail. My only loss was my Sent Messages folder and a couple email addesses (Got to remember to backup my address list every time I shut the computer down <she says, writing a note to herself>) Now all I have to do is find out why Juno keeps bouncing back email from Videotron Canada. ======================================= NEWSLETTER INFORMATION If you have family you want to share this with but they don't have a computer, please feel free to print it out and share it with them. If you have family with a computer who you think might be interested in the newsletter, drop'em an e-mail and let'em know about it; feel free to pass along my e-mail address. All the back issues of COUSINS can be found at: http://www.fortlangley.ca/pepin/cousins.html Or, you can click on any of the red lions that appear on the Pepin pages and Site Directory. If at anytime you wish to be change the way you receive the newsletter, drop me an e-mail at lisa@fortlangley.ca and tell me. ======================================= COUSINS comes out once a
